Local History @ Your Library

On Tuesday, December 4th at 7:00pm at the DeKalb Public Library, local
historian Steve Bigolin presents "Who's Been Sleeping in my House", his
popular talk about the history of older homes in the DeKalb area.  Come
learn who lived in that gorgeous Greek Revival down the street, or
discover your own home's past!  FREE program!  For more information,

Destination Wonder

DeKalb Public Library's own science fiction and fantasy book club
discusses The Golden Compass this Wednesday night (December 5th) at
7:00pm.  Just in time for the movie release!  Everyone is welcome to
attend, and a few copies of the book are still available on the Book
Club rack by the Reference Desk.  For more information, contact Steve at

Game Night

Don't forget Game Night!  Every Wednesday night from 6:30pm to 8:30pm On
Board Games comes to the library with a wide variety of games for all
ages.  The event is FREE and open to everyone.  (Due to the upcoming
holiday, Game Night will be cancelled on Wednesday, December 26th and
Wednesday, January 2nd.  We will meet again on January 9th)

 

Heroes @ Your Library

Our book club for teenagers discusses Psychic Academy on Thursday,
December 6th at 6:30pm.  All teens are welcome to attend.  For more

Closing for Flooring

On Thursday, December 6th and Friday, December 7th, the DeKalb Public
Library will close its lower-level hallway and public staircase for
maintenance.  During these two days access to the Main Level and the
Lower Level will only be available through the outside entrances; the
indoor staircase between the two levels will be closed.  We apologize
for any inconvenience.  For more information on this project, please

Visit with Santa Claus!

Santa Claus will come from the North Pole to visit the DeKalb Public
library on Wednesday, December 12th at 10:45am.  Santa's visit will
start after a 15-minute Toddler Time (which begins at 10:30am) and will
last until 11:30am.  Parents are welcome to bring cameras!  FREE event!

Crafternoon For Teens

Feeling creative? Design your own set of magnets at the DeKalb Public
Library. Join us on Saturday, December 15th at 2:30 p.m. for our first
Crafternoon only for teens! Using small pictures, letters & numbers from
old magazines you will create a dozen small bubble magnets. All
materials provided, sign-up fee is $1.00 - please register at the
Reference Desk.  For more information, please contact Kathy or Jill at

End of Year Closings

The DeKalb Public Library will be closed on the following days this
holiday season:  

Sunday, December 23rd; 

Monday, December 24th; 

Tuesday, December 25th; 

the Children's Department only will be closed all day on Saturday,
December 29th; 

Sunday, December 30th;

Monday, December 31st;

Tuesday, January 1st.

We will be open again on Wednesday, January 2nd from 9:00am to 9:00pm.
